I. González Mariño graduated in Chemistry at the University of Santiago de Compostela in 2007. In 2012, she obtained her PhD on the environmental study of emerging organic contaminants by chromatography-mass spectrometry techniques under the supervision of Dr José Benito Quintana and Dr Isaac Rodríguez. During this period, she performed two research stays at the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research of Leipzig, Germany, and at the Institute for Environmental Studies of Amsterdam. In 2013, she worked as scientific and technical project officer at the Institute for Reference Materials and Measurements of the European Commission, in Belgium. After being awarded with an I2C postdoctoral fellowship in 2014, she joined the Mario Negri Institute for Pharmacological Research of Milan to work on the determination of new psychoactive substances in wastewater under the supervision of Dr Sara Castiglioni. From 2016 to 2019, she worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Santiago de Compostela, and in April 2019 she joined the University of Salamanca as Assistant Professor.
Her research is focused on the determination of emerging organic contaminants and their metabolites in biological and environmental matrices with a double objective: (i) estimate the exposure to the target substances; and (ii) assess their environmental fate, occurrence and transformation processes. She has participated in 11 competitive research projects (5 national, 4 regional and 2 local) being the principal investigator in 3 of them (1 regional and 2 local). She is a co-author of 3 book chapters (2 as first author) and 34 research articles in journals indexed in the JCR (23 as first and/or corresponding author). Altogether, her publications have received more than 1300 citations (h-index: 18 – SCOPUS). Her research results have been presented in several national and international conferences through 39 communications (15 as oral communications, 8 of which were presented by her).
