On July 16, 2026, I presented our recently published article, Beyond food: Ultra-processed people are living in an ultra-processed world, at the Spanish Congress of Sociology in Bilbao. Together with Professor Jesús Rivera-Navarro, Full Professor of Sociology at the University of Salamanca, we discussed the concept of ultra-processed people as a sociological metaphor to understand how the logic of ultra-processing extends beyond food and shapes contemporary lifestyles, consumption patterns, and subjectivities. As a nutritionist, it is particularly rewarding to participate in a Sociology Congress for the second time, reinforcing the importance of interdisciplinary dialogue in addressing today’s complex food-related challenges.
