Call for 2017–18 Visiting Scholars
The Margherita von Brentano Center for Gender Studies at Freie Universität Berlin offers non-stipendiary visiting fellowships to excellent scholars who are conducting research related to one of our research priority areas. These are:
- transnational, transregional and transcultural gender relations;
- body, sexuality, biopolitics; digital public(s) and gender;
- subjectivity, power, emotions and affections;
- feminist theory, diversity and intersectionality
Visiting scholar appointments are from ca. 4 weeks to 4 months and have to be carried out during Winter Term 2017-18 (Oct to February) or Summer Term 2018 (April to July) during which time scholars will pursue independent research and interact with faculty, students, and researchers within the field of gender studies.
Responsibilities
Visiting Scholars are expected to actively participate in the academic activities of the MvBZ. These include the participation in workshops, conferences and lecture series. We encourage visiting scholars to present their ongoing work and publish a working paper. The center requests that in return, scholars in residence acknowledge the center’s support in any publications that result from this research period.
Support
The MvBZ does not provide funding or any insurance, and visiting scholars are expected to be self-funded and self-insured. Visiting Scholars enjoy full access to the Freie Universität Berlin libraries and electronic resources, and will receive an e-mail account for the duration of their stay at the MvBZ.
