The main interest of this research group lies in the comparative study of political divisions and party systems in Europe. Our current work focuses in particular on the transformation of ideological orientations, policy preferences, and political identities in Europe, at both the levels of public opinion and political parties. Our recent research has addressed the causes, correlates, and electoral consequences of ideological orientations and populist attitudes. Our work has a comparative character, and combines the use of quantitative (individual as well as ecological) and qualitative research strategies.
