José Ignacio Íñiguez de la Torre Bayo was born some years ago in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Basque Country, Spain.

He obtained his MS (1973) and PhD (1978) degrees in physics from the University of Valladolid. From 1986 is full professor at the University of Salamanca.

He is author and co-author of many papers devoted to magnetism, magnetic materials and physics teaching. He is currently working on giant magneto-impedance and magnetic relaxation of amorphous ferromagnetic wires. Also he is developing several projects on hands-on experiments for explaining electromagnetism to physics students.

He is a good amateur cyclist for many years, and participated in the Paris-Brest-Paris cycling race in 2003 and more recently in other tours in Spain, the Alps and Pyrenees.
