How to rip a DVD into a file

HandBrake

HandBrake is available from this link. Download and install if you have not done it before.

Open “HandBrake”

Select folder of DVD (whether it is in DVD unit or in a downloaded folder)

Wait until preview is finished.

Click on “Browse” next to “Save as”.

Optionally, you can select option in “When done…”.

Click on “Start Encode”.

Wait until it is finished.

FFmpeg

Free and open-source.

VLC Media Player

Download and instal “VLC media player” (if not done before).

Open “VLC Player”

Go to menu bar > Media > Convert

Then select “Disc” tab > Click “Browse” button > Select folder of DVD/Blu-ray > “Convert / Save” button.

Click “Browse” > Select output file > Click “Start”

It did not work for me, it just ripped the first video in the DVD and then stopped.
