Cash Drawer Products Comparison

There are different cash drawer products that can be found in the market. This article list the pros and cons of each of them.

 

Classic Cash Drawer

Pros:

+economic (~60 €)

+small

Cons:

-employee has access to money

-automatic note/coin classification

-closing is manual

-discrepancy are not detected until closing

-does not detect fake notes/coins

 

Cash drawer with balance counters

Pros:

+closing is automatic

+discrepancies are detected for each transaction

+warns about discrepancies

+-average price (1.200 €)

Cons:

-employee has access to money

-automatic note/coin classification

-unable to detect some fake notes/coins

 

Smart Cash Drawer (SCD)

Pros:

+closing is automatic

+discrepancies are detected for each transaction

+employee does not have access to money

+client may put money him/herself

+warns about discrepancies

+security

+rejects fake notes/coins
+automatic note/coin classification

Cons:

-Expensive (6.000-12.000 €)

-Big size
