Job in Cultural Studies, Claremont Graduate University.

Resultado de imagen de School of Arts and Humanities at Claremont Graduate UniversityThe Department of Cultural Studies in the School of Arts and Humanities at Claremont Graduate University invites applications and nominations for an advanced Assistant or Associate Professor position (tenure-track or tenured) in Cultural Studies with expertise in Museum Studies and/or Media Studies, to begin in Fall 2018. We will look with special interest at candidates who can complement our department’s current strengths in Hemispheric and Transnational Studies, Africana, Latinx, and Asian Pacific American Studies, and Feminist and Queer Theory.

As a graduate-only research university in the tradition of the liberal arts, CGU values scholarly production, teaching, and mentoring. The successful candidate will have a PhD in hand and maintain an active research agenda in their field of expertise, with a demonstrably strong record of publications commensurate with rank. We expect the candidate to contribute to our departmental curriculum by teaching required foundational courses in Cultural Studies theory and by helping to build our programs in Museum Studies and/or Media Studies. In the spirit of the “applied humanities,” these programs combine scholarly research and training in academic theory with praxis-based experience at both the MA and PhD levels. The successful applicant will have a strong track record or impressive promise in mentoring and advising diverse students, especially women and historically under-represented minorities.

Intellectual breadth is important in our department and university. We seek candidates eager to help graduate students who possess a wide range of interests develop expertise in and make connections across fields and topics in their scholarly work. Applicants can learn more about our department and how they may complement and bolster our current strengths by visiting https://www.cgu.edu/departments/cultural-studies/.
