Call for Chapters: Accessibility, Inclusion, and Diversity in Critical Events Studies.

Resultado de imagen de festivalesWe invite researchers to submit chapter abstracts for a proposed book to be published by Routledge entitled, Accessibility, Inclusion, and Diversity in Critical Events Studies, edited by Rebecca Finkel (Queen Margaret University) and Briony Sharp (University of Huddersfield).

The vision for this book is to feature contributions from critical events and interdisciplinary scholars. Chapters should interweave theory, policy and/or practice, and include at least one planned event/festival case study. Empirical work which features creative research methods is especially welcome.

Possible Topics:

  • Events/festivals causing polarisation between communities/stakeholders

  • Understanding and potentially overcoming physical, mental, emotional barriers to events/festival access

  • Highlighting marginalised or under-represented communities in global events spaces

  • Non-human and more-than-human access to events environments

  • Social, cultural, economic, and digital inclusion/exclusion narratives

  • Inclusion vs. justice — inclusion vs. equality in events contexts

  • Governance and policies related to event/festival accessibility, inclusion, and diversity

  • Role of media and social media in event/festival accessibility, inclusion, and diversity

  • Intersectional approaches to diversifying events/festival audiences and landscapes

  • New critical perspectives for established events/festivals with regard to ethics, representation, responsible management

  • Models of best practice and lessons learned with regard to event/festival accessibility, inclusion, and diversity

Please submit abstracts (100-200 words max.) for your proposed chapter by

Monday, 15 May.

We look forward to hearing about your work and possibly having you contribute to this exciting, emerging area! Please email abstracts to Rebecca Finkel: rfinkel@qmu.ac.uk
